Summer Event Cruise on the Canal 2011 Wednesday 17th Aug 9:30 - 5:30
There must be some type of quote that goes with vergers cruising on the canal, but I don't know what it is. On a fine summers day 11 intrepid vergers set out on the Grand Union Canal at Pitstone for a days outing. The weather improved during the day as the sun came out and we set up the cut rising through the Marsworth flight of locks. We stopped off at the reserviors and some of the party got out of the boat to stretch their legs and to throw and catch ropes and to wind a few locks. We took a bring and share lunch. There was far too much to eat. We then worked off the lunch going down the locks we had just come up. It was an enjoyable day out with the members able to do as much or as little as they wanted. An exhausting but fun day out with excellent company. It was a good day out and perhaps an event that might be worth repeating sometime.
